Cliff Blackstone
Job Description
Paymaster
Period
1953 - 1958
Cliff lived in a caravan on the station (with Ron Birss) after he and his wife split up. During the school holidays and weekends his daughter June, (now June Norman) would visit her father at the station and has fond memories of growing up and the free and easy life they led.
June remembers it was interesting to see the whales and the sharks – the one thing everyone remembers was the smell which they became used to and it didn’t bother them.
Children had free run of the place and knew not to get in the way when whales were flensed.
