Clive was the biggest shareholder of the Cheynes Beach Whaling Company and was also a Director. He was involved with bringing the oil tanks from Collie (he knew they were there and arranged it). He was active in the company when Ches Stubbs lost his leg. Whale meal was 68 pounds a ton and was mainly fed to sheep. His son Anthony ran a farm at Boyup Brook and he used it.
The tooth was presented to Clive as a recognition for services rendered to the company.
