George and Olive Lee ran the Mess at the station from 1962 to 1964. Rachel was the daughter of George and Olive, when her parents seperated, Rachel helped her father, later running the Mess with her husband Bill. The days were very long, the first meal was to be served between 7 to 7:30am, then prepare for Morning Tea, Lunch and Afternoon Teas, using a whistle to let the employees know the next meal is ready. They also sold lollies, cigarettes and cool drinks. They travelled into town once a week for thier supplies. Bill Ralph the truck driver would pick up any large orders for them.
Rachel and Bill had two boys, and three girls, one of the girls was born while living at the station. They resided in the small Cook's Cottage located just behind the Mess. The children caught the bus into school in Albany from the Whaling Station.
