The conversion of a whale oil storage tank into a viewing tower back in the eighties has proved very popular with many visitors.
The tower provides unequalled views of King George Sound and a totally different perspective as you look down onto the whalechaser Cheynes IV.
In July 2004, the tower was dedicated to pictorial telling of stories about many of the employees of the Cheynes Beach Whaling Company through graphic panels, mounted on the wall of the spiral walking platform to the viewing deck.
